Restore & Release ~ the perfect blend of restorative postures and somatic movement flows. This class gently unwinds chronic tension before settling you into deeply healing restorative postures.
Tensegrity ~ the tensegrity repair series is a sequence of movements designed to hydrate and renew the joints and myofascial web (connective tissue) of the body. Through slow, repetitive movement we discover 'right effort' and 'right tension'. This practice is a fabulous compliment to other movement practices and will inform how you move through life.
Restorative Yoga ~ a beautifully relaxing class designed to settle the nervous system, invitinging you into your rest & digest response, the state of deep healing and regeneration. This class has been described as a 'love letter to myself'.
Chair Yoga ~ Suitable for all levels. Move your whole body from toes & fingers to the top of your head. This 45 minute class uses a chair throughout. We begin seated and eventually move to standing. The chair offers the perfect support to explore movement, balance & strength.
Fluid Movement ~ an all around practice combining tensegrity, somatic and traditional yoga postures, this class invites balance, strength and fluid movement transitioning from floor to standing and back to the floor where you will rest in deep stillness to restore
Release & Roll
Working with the ingenious BackMitra, a Dowel & various Massage Balls, this class invites us to unwind chronically held tension, increasing mobility and vitality.
Yoga Nidra ~ suitable for everyone. this guided meditation through breath and body awareness can be done seated or laying
I have been influenced by movement my whole life. Growing up in a family of movement educators and coaches (sports), I began my formal movement training early in gymnastics, figure skating and dance. A natural transition into teaching fitness classes in my twenties began my shift from sport to personal movement based practices. I discovered yoga in my thirties but it wasn’t until transitioning through a significant life change that yoga embraced me ~ “Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self” The Bhagavad Gita
My personal practice and teaching style is exploratory and somatic in nature. As no two bodies are alike, no two postures or movements are alike. Finding balance in the body is essential. I believe we need both gentle and strong practices to invite the body to remember what it is to rest and also what it is to grow. Whether a gentle or strong practice, I teach through somatic inquiry; What are you aware of as you rest in stillness or as you move? How does sensation inform you? We are each our own best teacher if we are willing to listen from within and let go of preconceived ideas of perfection. When we listen deeply, allowing the body to inform us, it will learn to trust us again.
I am a Yoga Alliance E-RYT500 hour certified yoga teacher, a YACEP (yoga alliance continuing education provider) and hold certifications in Restorative Yoga, Yoga Nidra, Somatic Yoga, Mat Pilates, Reiki and as a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (life coach).
